What the guides say

The short version of each, before you read it.

What is my star sign moon? How to find your moon sign

  • Your moon sign is the zodiac sign the Moon was in at the moment you were born.
  • The Moon orbits Earth in about 27.3 days, so it changes sign roughly every two and a half days.
  • You need a birth-chart calculator with your date, place and ideally your birth time; date tables only give your sun sign.
  • No birth time? Check noon, early morning and late evening: if all three agree, that is very likely your moon sign.

Why do I have 2 zodiac signs? Four reasons, plainly

  • Two signs usually means a cusp birthday, a moon or rising sign, a sidereal chart, or the 13-constellation count.
  • If you were born near a changeover, your birth year and time decide which side of the line you land on.
  • Vedic (sidereal) charts usually place you about one sign earlier than Western (tropical) ones, because of a 26,000-year wobble in Earth's axis.
  • NASA did not change the zodiac; the Sun's path simply crosses 13 constellations, including Ophiuchus.
